Found out a lot of good genealogy information at this gathering - things like why my great-grandfather spelled his name Beland and Belane. We always thought he was Belgian or at least of Belgian roots - turns out I’m 100 percent French Canadian (Acadian stock). The only pesky tainting of heritage is from the Collins side which makes me about 1/8th Irish. Just enough to be trouble. Uncle Bruce feel free to chime in with comments.
